Washington Geography Teachers -

Facing the Future has created a framework to help implement the Humans and
Environment Classroom-Based Assessment (for High School or Middle School
Geography). This framework follows the CBA's Directions for Teachers,
providing step-by-step ideas and resources for making the CBA an engaging
and rewarding experience for students and teachers.

With a focus on energy-related issues, the framework uses Facing the
Future's activity-based lessons along with other websites, books, and films.

The 4-page framework is available to download on the Facing the Future
website at http://www.facingthefuturedata.org/download.htm, by scrolling
down to State Standards Alignment and State-Specific Resources for
Washington State. On this page you can also download Facing the Future's
lessons for free.

Depending on teacher demand, Facing the Future plans to produce similar
frameworks for other CBAs. Please let us hear your questions and feedback by
contacting Program Director Laura Skelton at laura at facingthefuture.org or
206.264.1503.

Facing the Future also provides professional development workshops on using
global sustainability issues to meet CBAs. For more information on how to
schedule a workshop at your school or district, please visit
http://www.teacherscorner.org/Workshops/workshops.html.
