Model United Nations it is a simulation of United Nations committees where
students learn to negotiate, research, and play the role of a diplomat from
one of the UN's 180 member countries. It is a fantastic program that allows
the students to gain different perspectives on global issues, as well as
develop public speaking and research skills.
VIKMUN 2007 has been developed with the goal of being challenging to
advanced students, as well as educational to beginning students, so everyone
gets something out of the experience. This conference can also serve as a
practice for students who will be attending the Washington State Model
United Nations Conference (WASMUN), hosted by the University of Washington
in Spring 2008. Our rules will closely mirror those of WASMUN in order to
enable students to prepare more thoroughly and gain a better understanding
of procedure and diplomacy.
