Hello,
Facing the Future*, a national nonprofit organization, is looking for high
school social studies teachers to help review a 2-week unit (approximately
75 pages) on sustainability issues. Reviewers will receive a free copy of
the unit. The unit is appropriate for a variety of social studies courses,
including contemporary world problems, history, civics, economics, and
geography. Just a few topics covered are poverty and equity, resource use
and distribution, community planning, media literacy, and historical and
modern-day examples related to social sustainability.
We would very much like to have your input on the form and content of these
units. A completed draft unit is currently available for review. Review
must be complete by September 15. If you are interested in reviewing and
possibly testing some components of this unit in your classroom, please
contact me at <mailto:laura at facingthefuture.org> laura at facingthefuture.org.
Also, please feel free to share this opportunity with other interested
teachers.
Thank you very much.
