Densho: The Japanese American Legacy Project seeks several high school teachers to join a group reviewing its curriculum offerings this winter and spring. The project is funded by the Washington Civil Liberties Public Education Program, and an honorarium is offered for participation.
Densho has an online video archive of oral histories of Japanese American
incarceration experiences during WW II, and offers several different curriculum
units that draw from this archive. All of them are aligned with Social Studies CBAs, and can be viewed on the Learning Center at www.densho.org.
Participating teachers will use one of the curriculum units in their classroom and attend two meetings: an introduction on January 10, and a follow-up for discussion of your experiences and feedback towards the end of the school year.
Please e-mail me (sarahmloudon at yahoo.com) to receive more information. And thanks for your consideration.
Happy holidays!
