Open to students in grades 5-12 in the Pacific Northwest (WA, OR, ID, AK)

 

CONTEST QUESTION: 
Think of a person affected by the Holocaust who you will remember for a long
time. (This might be someone you have read about, studied, seen in a movie,
or even met.)

Writing: Write a multi-paragraph letter to this person explaining why he or
she is hard to forget.

Art: Create a piece of art for this person that depicts something you have
learned.

Winners will receive up to $200 and will be recognized at the community
Holocaust Remembrance Day program on April 26, 2009. Winning entries will be
published. Teachers with students who place will receive gift certificates.

 

This contest is sponsored by the Washington State Holocaust Education
Resource Center, a non-profit organization that works to inspire teaching
and learning for humanity in the schools and communities of this region
through study of the Holocaust.
