FREE TEACHER TRAINING IN SOCIAL STUDIES CBAs
Densho: The Japanese American Legacy Project invites Social Studies and
other interested teachers to attend a free training workshop on Saturday,
January 10. Participants will learn about innovative curriculum units
that draw from the award-winning Densho digital archive of video oral
histories and other primary resources on the WWII incarceration of
Japanese Americans (www.densho.org).
The free workshop will held from 10am to 1pm at 1416 S. Jackson St, Seattle WA 98144. Light refreshments will be served, and free hard copies and CDs of the lessons will be provided.
For elementary, middle, and high school teachers, Densho offers units
aligned with the History and Civics Classroom Based Assessments (CBAs)
for Causes of Conflict, Constitutional Issues, Dig
Deep, and Immigration Journeys. All the lessons will be
presented by veteran education consultants who welcome candid feedback
from experienced teachers. Participants will have the opportunity to sign
up for an honorarium and clock hours by testing one of the curriculum
units in their classroom.
