Summer Seminar: Civil Rights in Washington from the 1960s to the Present

The Munro Institute for Civic Education will be offering this one-week 3 credit hour summer course geared for Social Studies teachers from June 25 to 30, 2017.  The course is built around the civil rights history in the State of Washington and will include lectures on the campus of Western Washington University as well as tours of sites of past and contemporary movements for civil rights. 


Highlights to include visits to the Wing Luke Pan Asian Museum, the Northwest African American Museum, and the Lummi Indian Reservation. 


Tuition and fees for the program are estimated at $1,350.  Clock hours are available and teachers can apply for $1,000 scholarships to support their participation.  Scholarships applications are due on January 9, 2017.
